Message from Sycamore Class

In Sycamore Class this half term, we will be working hard with our Literacy, Numeracy and Topic work; as well as having weekly PE, Mobility, Swimming, Art, Music and Food Tech sessions and continuing to focus on encouraging communication and life skills throughout our daily routine. We will also be working on a daily basis using our ILP targets.

In Literacy, we will be reading the “Dear Zoo” story. Each week we will be focusing on certain animals from the story. We will also be working on writing work and fine motor activities, communication and using ALD boards on a daily basis, as well as exploring books. In phonics each week we focus on a different letter whilst also incorporating food phonics.

In Numeracy, we will be continuing to concentrate on our basic number skills as well as focusing on size. We will be learning about big and small exploring various materials within the classroom, during our PE lessons and outside in the playground. We will also be learning about capacity exploring water play and using boxes as well as various materials and also problem solving.

Our topic this half term is “Shopaholics” and “A wild African adventure”

We will be reading “Oliver’s Vegetables” whilst exploring vegetables and moving onto fruit. We are going to be focusing on different shops throughout this half term and looking at the different items that you can buy.  We are going to be  walking  to the local shops this half term visiting the greengrocers, post office, chip shop and sweet shop. There will be a letter going home informing you of dates that we are going out to the shops, please could we borrow your child’s wheelchair if they have one and send it into school for our walk to the shops. We will return your child’s wheelchair at the end of the day.

Thank you,

Tracy Fielding-Martin
