Message from Rowan Class

Rowan Class blog >

In Class Rowan, there are ten Year 5 and 6 pupils, two teaching assistants (Michelle and Sarah) and one teacher (Naomi). Every week, we have lessons in literacy, numeracy, topic, phonics, music, swimming and cookery.

This half term our literacy story is “The BFG” by Roald Dahl. We are using our reading, writing, speaking and listening skills as we follow Sophie and the Big Friendly Giant to Giant Country, catch dreams and try to avoid the nasty giants!

In numeracy, we are learning about shape, colour, position and direction, and money. We will be doing lots of practical activities and worksheets in our books to improve our number; shape, space and measure; and using and applying skills. Towards the end of the term, we will be going on a trip to a supermarket to put our money skills into practise.

Our topic this half term is “An African Adventure”. We are pretending to be explorers going on a journey through South Africa, where will meet African people and animals, explore their houses, taste their food and listen to their music.

Please follow our adventures via our class blog, which is updated weekly with photos and news.
