Message from Peach Class
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you all about what Peach class will be learning in the summer term.
We have two exciting topics planned. Our first will be ‘shopaholics’. We will be learning about different types of shops and what we can buy there. We will start by learning about where fruit and vegetables come from and where we can buy them. We also plan to visit some local shops such as the fish and chip shop, the sweet shop and the coop. During these visits we will have the opportunity to practice using money and exchanging symbols for items.
Our second topic will be all about Africa. We will be learning about what animals live in Africa. We will also be listening to lots of African music and will be practicing playing loud and quiet on the African drums.
In Literacy this tern our story is ‘Oliver’s vegetables’. We will be helping Oliver to find the potatoes hidden in Grandad’s garden by exploring and tasting lots of different vegetables. We will be working on ILP and Literacy targets during these sessions and will have lots of opportunities to practice reading, write, speaking and listening skills throughout the term.
In numeracy we will start by learning about shape. We will be exploring shapes, naming them, identifying their properties and sorting them into groups. This term we will also be practicing using money during our visits to the shops and learning about weight.
In PE are focus will be athletics. We will be practicing our running, jumping and throwing skills. We will be playing lots of fun teams games whilst we practice these skills.
We are looking forward to an exciting term ahead. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me or communicate through the school diary.
