Message from Elm Class
Literacy: Our early years topic for this half of the summer term is ‘How are we going to get there?’. We will be enjoying three stories starting with ‘The Journey Home From Grandpa’s’. Understanding of each story will be augmented through the use of sign language, ALD boards and the exploration of sensory resources.
Numeracy: In our numeracy lessons we will be focusing on number through counting, recognising and identifying numbers. Our number songs will focus on different methods of transport, for example, Five Aeroplanes went out to fly… and Five Little Men in a Flying saucer. We will be exploring capacity through sand and water play, developing awareness of shapes in the environment, arranging colour blocks into a pattern and sequencing familiar events in the day.
Understanding the World This term we will be looking at changes which occur in nature and using some simple ICT skills to operate toys and equipment.
Food technology: During our cookery lessons, we will be making food for celebrations such as St George’s day and the Royal Wedding. Later in the term we will be making picnic food and enjoying it outdoors (perhaps we will even invite our Teddy bears to the picnic)!
PE: This half term our PE focus is athletics. We will be practising running safely, using and negotiating space successfully and developing our throwing and rolling skills.
We are looking forward to an exciting, and perhaps a warmer term.
Thank you to those parents who have already signed up to our class Dojo, it is a lovely way to keep in touch and to learn about our class and their achievements.
If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me at school or via the school diary.
