Message from Birch Class
In Birch Class this half term, we will be working hard with our Literacy, Numeracy and Topic work; as well as having weekly PE, Art, Music and Food Tech sessions and continuing to focus on encouraging communication and life skills throughout our daily routine.
In Literacy, we will be reading two stories – ‘Bringing Down the Moon!’ and ‘Not Now, Bernard’. Each week we will be focusing on a key event from the story and giving the children chance to retell and role play their favourite parts of the story! We will also be working on communication and fine motor activities activities on a daily basis, as well as continuing with our Reading Scheme!
In Numeracy, we will be continuing to concentrate on our basic number skills as well as focusing on ‘Money’! We plan to take some walks to the shops to learn more about money exchange and coin recognition. Later in the half term, we will be learning about ‘Capacity’, which will give up plenty of opportunities to learn about full and empty and explore containers in different sensory materials.
Our topic this half term is ‘Transport and People Who Help Us’! During this, the children will be learning all about different ways of travelling and emergency service vehicles. We will be going on trips to explore different transportation including buses, trains and planes as well as having a visit from the Police and Fire Brigade!
