Message from Apple Class
Literacy: Our class story this half term is ‘The very hungry caterpillar’ Pupils are enjoying a sensory version of the story in the sensory room and a story using props and pictures at group times. During literacy lessons we will be working hard on our fine motor control through activities such as posting, stacking caterpillar cups, threading with plastic fruit from the story plus many more. We are also working hard on our pencil control, colouring and matching.
Numeracy: In our numeracy lessons, we will be focussing on money. We have already baked, counted and bought currant buns during role-play sessions. We will also be working on coin exchange by visiting Tesco, the market and local sweet shop.
Topic: This term, our topic will be ‘Tell Me a Story’. During ‘Tell Me a Story’; we will be looking at different types of social stories and using this to learn about different situations such as crossing the road or sharing with friends.
PE: This half term we will be participating in gymnastic sessions. We have already been exploring lots of different equipment. Our next lessons will focus on travelling and rolling.
Food technology: During our cookery lessons, we will be working on a variety of skills linked to phonics. We will be exploring various foods that start with our letter of the week.
We are looking forward to an exciting term. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me at school or via the school diary.
